My running goals 2025

This year my main aim is to maintain a generally high level of endurance running fitness. I want to sustain this throughout the entire year.

However, not before I’ve scratched an initial speed running itch! Recent training has been going well. I am preparing for a sub 1:30 half marathon in January. I am also gearing up for my first ever full road marathon in February.

Last year was what I would consider my first “proper” ultra year. Where I kept going back to 100 km races, completing them in respectable times, and not getting injured. I completed 7 100 km races in as many months, and got quicker as the year progressed.

This year, I want to continue with mostly 100 km races within the UK and Europe. I plan to finally try 100 mile distance races in 2026.

So, to be specific, my goals are to:

  1. Go under 12 hours for the 100 km distance
  2. Finish all 9 ultra-distance races without injury
  3. Finish 24 loops of the Suffolk Backyard ultra (to technically achieve my first ever 100 mile distance)
  4. Prepare myself physically and mentally for the year of hundred-milers in 2026

My current race schedule (as of January 1st, 2025)
